Signing in and clocking in

Every station starts at the lock screen. Staff sign in with a PIN or an employee card, pick a role if it is their first sign-in of the day, and clock in. What they see next depends on the role.

The lock screen

Your logo sits at the top with a PIN keypad under it. Optional tabs give staff the employee clock-in, a preview of the floor plan, and the Fresh Sheet, the running list of items that are 86'd right now. An Announcements panel at the bottom carries the note about tonight's special or a closed section, so it is read before anyone rings an order. The lock screen also shows the app's version code and has Restart App and licence buttons for troubleshooting, which is useful to know when support asks which version you are on.

Signing in

  1. Enter your 4-digit PIN, or swipe your employee card through the station's card reader.
  2. On your first sign-in of the day, choose your role. The role decides which modules you can open.
  3. Clock in. Depending on how the location is set up, this happens automatically, by a prompt, or from the clock-in tab.

You land in the modules your role allows. For most staff the everyday one is Register.

Roles

Roles are set up in the web portal and control module access: a server sees Register and their own orders, a manager sees voids, discounts and reports, an owner sees everything. Keep roles honest; the manager PIN should not be taped to the station.

Clocking in and out on handhelds

Since version 286, clock-in and clock-out and access-card linking work on the mobile and handheld devices too, so a server on a handheld does not need to walk to a station to start a shift. See the release notes.
